    STRIKING. GRAPPLING. CONDITIONING.

    MMA Training in Spring, TX

Striking, grappling, and conditioning under one roof. A complete MMA program led by a 4th-degree Machado black belt in Spring, Texas.

FOR PEOPLE NEW TO THE SPORT

    What Is Mixed Martial Arts?

MMA is the combat sport that combines striking (boxing, kicks, knees, elbows), wrestling (takedowns, clinch), and jiu-jitsu (ground fighting and submissions) into one complete system. It is what you see in the UFC and Bellator, and it is the most honest test of a martial artist's real skill.

You do not have to fight to train MMA. Most of our students never step into a cage. They train because MMA teaches you everything, striking, grappling, and conditioning, and builds a skill set you can actually use.

    THE FULL ROUND PROGRAM

Striking, Clinch, and Ground — All in One Class.

A real MMA fighter is three fighters in one: a boxer, a wrestler, and a jiu-jitsu player.

Most gyms teach one of those well and fake the others. The Full Round Program at Ground Dwellers covers all three ranges with coaches who actually train each discipline. The ground game is run by a 4th-degree Machado black belt, which is harder to find in a local MMA gym than most people realize.

You Do Not Have to Fight to Train MMA.

Most of our MMA students never step into a cage. They train because MMA is the most complete workout any martial art offers. Cardio that matches running a half-marathon. Strength that holds up in any situation. Skills that actually work outside the gym. You can train the full sport without ever competing.

    What You Will Actually Train

Three ranges. Three skill sets. One program.

    Striking

Boxing fundamentals, kicks, knees, and elbows. We cover stance, movement, and combinations before we ever touch sparring. Pad work, bag work, and controlled partner drills.

    Grappling

Wrestling for takedowns, jiu-jitsu for the ground. Led by Professor Avelar personally. This is where most MMA gyms fall short and where Ground Dwellers has the deepest bench.

    Conditioning

Every class finishes with rounds. Rounds build the engine that fighters and students actually need, not the one a treadmill builds. Conditioning is baked into training, not a separate class.

THE GROUND IS WHERE FIGHTS GO

Most MMA Fights End on the Ground.

The Ground Dwellers MMA program is led by a 4th-degree Machado black belt who has been teaching jiu-jitsu since before MMA was on cable television. The ground curriculum here is built by someone who actually lives the art, not a purple belt running drills from a YouTube video. When a fight goes to the mat, you will know what to do because you learned it in a program designed by the right person.

"I do not want to get hurt."

Neither do we. Sparring at Ground Dwellers is controlled, timed, and supervised by the Professor and coaches. Beginners are never thrown into hard sparring. You drill, then light technical sparring, then harder work if and when you are ready. Most students train for months before any hard contact work. Nobody here gets their bell rung for no reason.
